Apple has started rolling out the iOS 18.7 update.
The update became available for download and installation starting at 2 a.m. KST on September 16th.
When I went into my iPhone’s settings to check if Apple had started distributing the new iOS 26 update, the iOS 18.7 update appeared first.
For the iPhone 11, the iOS 18.7 update size is 616.6MB. I don’t expect the size to be much different for the latest iPhones.
What’s Included in the iOS 18.7 Update?
I’ve checked foreign websites and communities, but I can’t find any information on what’s included in the iOS 18.7 update.
It will likely take a bit more time for the details to become available, but it’s almost certain that the September security patches are included. Bug fixes are probably part of it too, but we’ll need official word from Apple to confirm that.
It seems safe to say that iOS 18.7 will be the last update for iOS 18. Of course, a few more security patches might be provided later, and after that, updates will only be released for very urgent security issues.
iPhone XS and iPhone XR users who are no longer supported by the iOS 26 update should apply the iOS 18.7 update right away. However, iPhone 11 users might want to give it some thought.
For older iPhones like the iPhone 11 that are supported by iOS 26, the new features will be limited, so staying on iOS 18.7 until a more stable version like iOS 26.1 is released would be a good choice. However, I’m conflicted because of the new Liquid Glass design in iOS 26.
