I have finally received the HyperOS 3 update for the Xiaomi Redmi Pad 2 Pro.
News that the update deployment had started overseas came out last December, but it wasn’t until late May that I was able to apply it.
The Xiaomi Redmi Pad 2 Pro falls under Xiaomi’s new update policy, which supports 7 years of security updates and offers 5 OS upgrades.
This HyperOS 3 update is the first OS upgrade and also includes the Android 16 update.
For the Redmi Pad 2 Pro released in China in December 2025, the HyperOS 3 update was deployed, and it began rolling out to global release models starting January 2026, but an issue occurred midway, delaying it to March.
Then, the deployment proceeded again from March, but for some reason, I didn’t receive the update until May 26th.
For reference, the Redmi Pad 2 Pro released in Korea is not equipped with a dedicated ROM for Korea, but simply comes with the global ROM. There doesn’t seem to be any particular reason for it to be updated late..
I don’t know if it’s because there are few users or due to regional reasons.
HyperOS 3 Update
Suddenly, a notification appeared saying there was an update, and looking at it, it was the December 2025 security update.
The December update of last year in May.. Along with a sense of disappointment, after applying the update, another notification popped up saying there was yet another update.
The second update that appeared was indeed the HyperOS 3 update.

The file size of the HyperOS 3 update for the Redmi Pad 2 Pro is 4.9GB, which is not a small capacity.
Looking at what is included in this update, it is as follows:
- Android 16
- March 2026 Security Patch
- HyperConnect: Changed to allow easy file sharing with Apple’s iPhones & iPads.
- Gallery App: Supports AI-based image search.
- Optimization: Overall UI optimization has improved battery performance and responsiveness.
Redmi Pad 2 Pro HyperOS 3 Update Review
Because it was a major upgrade and not a small update, I guess I had high expectations.
Even if the Redmi Pad 2 Pro is an entry-level tablet, since it is an OS upgrade, it seems right for some new features to be added…
But I don’t see anything that has changed.
It’s just that the security update date has at least changed to March 2026, and it has become a bit snappier.
Other than that, I can’t really feel any difference.
HyperOS 3 Update Overall Summary
It’s nice to receive the update, but it’s very disappointing.
While I am satisfied that optimization took place, the fact that there is nothing particularly new is a letdown.
Above all, the fact that the update deployment is delayed so much is disappointing.
Considering that Samsung’s low-end tablet, the Galaxy Tab A9, received continuous security updates at least every three months, Xiaomi’s capability in deploying updates is a huge disappointment.
It raises doubts like, “When will I ever be able to receive the June security update for the Redmi Pad 2 Pro?”
