Edifier Comfo Bass Review: Open-Ear Clip Earbuds That Actually Deliver Bass

I wasn’t planning to buy new earbuds. My QCY T20s from 2023 still work great — but they don’t connect to my PC, and that’s been bugging me for a while. Then I saw the Edifier Comfo Bass launch promotion offering a ₩50,000 discount off the regular ₩99,000 price, and figured: it’s Edifier, it’s probably good. So I pulled the trigger.

Here’s my honest take after using them.

What Is the Edifier Comfo Bass?

Let’s get the naming out of the way: despite being marketed as Bluetooth earphones, the Comfo Bass is really an open-ear clip earbud — the kind that sits on your ear without sealing the canal. If you’ve ever found in-ear monitors uncomfortable or isolating, this style might be for you. It is for me.

Unboxing and Build Quality

The packaging is clean but entirely in English and Chinese — no Korean localization beyond a small importer sticker on the side. Inside the box you get:

  • The Comfo Bass earbuds + charging case
  • USB-C charging cable
  • Three paper manuals (tiny font, good luck reading them)

First impression of the case: better than expected. The hinge snaps shut with a satisfying click, and the overall build feels premium for the price point. The white and silver color combination works well — though I think a black version would look equally sharp.

Edifier Comfo Bass L and R markings on earbud driver housing — small but visible

One minor complaint: the L/R markings on the earbuds are extremely small and hard to read with the naked eye. The workaround is to pay attention to which side each earbud sits in the case, then keep that orientation when you take them out.

Connectivity

Pull the earbuds out of the case and they connect automatically. Paired instantly with my iPhone and my PC — no fuss, no manual pairing mode. Bluetooth 6.1 lives up to its fast-connection reputation here.

App: Edifier ConneX

The companion app offers more customization than I expected at this price. You get detailed EQ settings, a dedicated game mode, and several presets that cover most use cases right out of the box.

Sound Quality

Here’s where the Comfo Bass earns its name.

Once you find the right fit on your ear — and that does take a moment, especially if your ears are asymmetrical like mine — the sound is genuinely impressive. The bass response is strong for such a small open-ear driver, but it doesn’t overwhelm the mids or highs. Dialogue in movies came through clearly, and music felt balanced rather than bass-heavy.

That said, fit matters a lot with clip-style earbuds. If the unit isn’t positioned correctly, you’ll notice sound leakage and a thinner audio profile. Take a few seconds to seat them properly and you’ll be rewarded.

Other Features Worth Noting

  • IP55 water resistance — handles sweat and light rain
  • Auto drainage function — actively expels water from the speaker grille
  • AI translation feature — a nice bonus, though secondary for most users
  • Long-term comfort — wore these for extended sessions with no discomfort; they stayed put

Price

The Edifier Comfo Bass retails at ₩99,000 in Korea. With the launch discount and Naver points, I paid around ₩46,000 — roughly $33 USD. The coupon runs through July 12.

For reference, the international version sells for around $30 on AliExpress, so the Korean MSRP feels a bit steep without a promotion. Worth watching for deals.

One note: the manual says to keep the original box for warranty purposes. A digital warranty certificate comes via Naver after purchase confirmation, but holding onto the packaging is the safer move.

Verdict

The Edifier Comfo Bass is a solid open-ear earbud that punches above its weight on sound quality. If you’re comfortable with the clip-style fit and don’t mind taking a moment to position them correctly, the audio payoff is real.

Pros:

  • Surprisingly strong, well-balanced bass
  • Lightweight and comfortable for long wear
  • Premium-feeling build quality
  • IP55 + auto drainage
  • Fast Bluetooth 6.1 pairing
  • Detailed app customization

Cons:

  • L/R markings nearly invisible
  • Fit-sensitive — takes adjustment to get right
  • Korean retail price is high without a discount
