The Silent Sea registered on Netflix for the Christmas season, is the second film with a story unfolding in the background of the universe following Space Sweepers.
The Silent Sea was produced by Jung Woo-sung and the appearance of actor Bae Doona and Gong Yoo also raised great expectations.

The most eye-catching part of The Silent Sea was the moon.
In fact, there are not many scenes where the moon appears in the background, but it is expressed in quite detail.
It can be seen that the spaceships and costumes of the cast are also not in the distant future.
This realistic expression made me feel quite intimate.
I think everything about The Silent Sea, not stories of the distant future, will be available in decades.
The Silent Sea is not a highly entertaining drama.
The speed of the story’s development remains steady from beginning to end, but it’s not fast. But it wasn’t boring.
On the other hand, I think it would have been nice to reduce the speed by two parts with six parts, but personally, I think the speed as it is is is okay.
Actor Bae Doona and Gong Yoo’s acting are leading the drama.
Above all, I wonder if Bae Doona’s acting is the most important thing in The Silent Sea.
Since it’s not a fast development, I feel that the acting skills of the two actors are leading the story of The Silent Sea.
Bae Doona is probably receiving good reviews both domestically and abroad for The Silent Sea.
Gong Yoo plays a role in putting Bae Doona back a little.
Overseas, he is known as a man who makes suggestions in Squid Game.
I think this will be an issue, too.
My review of The Silent Sea
In the future, there will be many SF movies or dramas set in space in Korea.
The Silent Sea’s completeness is so high that it seems that this kind of work has not been produced in the meantime due to the limitation of production costs.
A platform called Netflix seems to have solved this production cost.
The Silent Sea is not a drama about the entertaining universe as mentioned above.
Nevertheless, it was fun enough to continue binge watching until episode 8.
At first, it was true that I was worried that there might be something sloppy because it was produced in Korea, but this concern was just a rain in the beginning.
In the meantime, some people seem to have some likes and dislikes due to the fact that the development speed is not as fast as other Korean dramas popular on Netflix, but I personally enjoyed it.
I don’t know if The Silent Sea will produce season 2, but I think this season alone is enough.
At the end of 2021, I recommend you to enjoy The Silent Sea without missing it.
